Pomeranian Breed Overview

Want to bring home an adorable Pomeranian puppy for sale? You’ve come to the right place. At Keystone Puppies, our mission is to help Pomeranian puppies find their forever homes. In addition to Pomeranians, we work with a range of other breeds — including Fox Terriers, Pomapoos, Pomskies, and more! All our puppies are bred with the highest standards of ethical integrity — free of common genetic defects that impact less responsible breeders — and are raised in happy homes where they’re treated like part of the family before becoming part of yours!

The Pomeranian dog breed has a long and storied history. Originating in the Pomerania region of Germany and Poland, these dogs were originally bred as working dogs, helping with herding and sled pulling. They were also popular lap dogs among the upper class, thanks to their small size and affectionate nature. Queen Victoria was especially enamored with the breed, and helped to make them even more popular.

Today, they’re one of the most popular dog breeds in the world, known for their adorable teddy bear-like appearance.

Pomeranian Puppies Temperament

Pomeranians are an intelligent and spirited breed of dog. They tend to be quite vocal and bold, but can also be aloof with strangers.

They make wonderful companions for families because of their friendly and playful nature. With the proper training, Pomeranians can learn to be great watchdogs since they are alert and know when something isn’t right.

Overall, Pomeranians are loyal and devoted canine friends. If you’re looking for an affectionate pup to share your life with, the Pomeranian may just be the breed you’re looking for!

Pomeranian Puppy Health Considerations

Though generally very happy and long-lived — with an average lifespan of around 13-16 years — our Pomeranians for sale are not without their unique health concerns. Like every breed of dog, there are a few conditions you should be aware of before you consider purchasing one of our Pomeranian puppies for sale. Understanding the risks allows you to know the signs and prevent small health concerns from turning into big ones.

Pomeranian puppies are at a somewhat elevated risk for developing the following conditions:

  • Intervertebral Disc Disease
  • Heart Problems
  • Luxating Patellas
  • Dental Problems
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Progressive Retinal Atrophy
  • Collapsed Trachea

While usually quite hardy and energetic, these tiny dogs can be vulnerable to issues such as Intervertebral Disc Disease, Heart problems, Luxating Patellas (loose kneecaps), Dental problems, Hypoglycemia, Progressive Retinal Atrophy and Collapsed Trachea.

With some basic knowledge of the breed’s health concerns, you can be sure to give your Pomeranian the best possible chance at a long and healthy life. Finding a Pomeranian puppy for sale from a reputable breeder can also dramatically — although, not eliminate — the risk of your dog developing some of these conditions. At Keystone Puppies, we work exclusively with experienced breeders who are committed to producing healthy & happy pups. Pomeranian Puppies Coat & Coat Care

Taking care of the luxurious coat of a Pomeranian is no easy feat! Combing and brushing are essential steps in coat maintenance, achieved best with a stiff bristle or pin brush to help eradicate mats and tangles. A good quality conditioner should also be used regularly to ensure the fur stays hydrated and glossy. Bathing should only be done when necessary as over-cleaning can lead to skin irritation. With commitment and dedication your companion’s coat can stay beautiful for years to come!
