Long shining coats, floppy ears, and heart-warming smiles – Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds in America and many parts of the world. Their docile, loyal, and eager-to-please personality makes them the perfect companions for everyone, especially families with small children. See Golden Retriever puppies for sale and learn everything you need to know about this lovable breed.
While these fluffy pups make the perfect addition to almost any family, Golden Retriever dogs have also been known to be serious workers and athletes. Our Golden Retriever puppies are often selected to serve as guide dogs, hunting dogs, therapy dogs, and more!
The modern Golden Retriever breed’s lineage is linked to the Spanish Water Spaniel, the Tweed Spaniel (now extinct), and the Red Setter. Originating in Scotland in 1911, these dogs were bred to be hunting companions and were expected to retrieve game from small bodies of water. While Golden Retrievers got their start in Europe, it didn’t take long for Americans to fall in love with this gorgeous and playful breed. The American Kennel Club officially recognized the Golden Retriever breed in 1925.

Golden Retriever Breed Temperament
Golden Retriever puppies are well known for being friendly and outgoing. This sweet breed is kind, responsive, affectionate, and overall makes for an easy-to-own dog that loves everyone. Not only do these adorable dogs enjoy curling up on the couch with their humans, Golden Retrievers also love being outside. They’ll never turn down an opportunity to go for a swim or play a game of fetch. That’s just one of the many reasons why Golden Retriever puppies are a favorite choice for households with children and other animals.
Although Golden Retriever dogs are quite playful, they also have a calm demeanor and a great willingness to learn. Because they combine exceptional intelligence with a willingness to work for rewards, Golden Retriever puppies are relatively easy to train.
While they are usually well-behaved, Golden Retrievers are known to act out and get into things when they are bored or left alone for long periods of time. So, make sure you provide your pup with plenty of enrichment and don’t skip their daily walk!

Caring for Golden Retriever Coats
Golden Retrievers have double coats that are easy to maintain with regular grooming. Their gorgeous topcoat is water-resistant and slight wavy. The super soft undercoat keeps your Golden Retriever cool in the summer and warm in the winter. While the topcoat typically sheds in small amounts throughout the year, the undercoat sheds in the fall and spring. Golden Retrievers for sale also have mild feathering on the back of their forelegs and heavier feathering on the front of their necks, back of their thighs and the bottom of their tails. Make sure to brush out these areas to avoid serious matting.
Golden Retriever dogs require regular grooming and the occasional bath. They should be brushed at least once a week, and every day during heavy shedding. You should bathe your Golden Retriever puppy every two months and have their ears cleaned regularly to prevent infections.
