Want to bring home an adorable Irish Setter puppy for sale? You’ve come to the right place. At Keystone Puppies, our mission is to help Irish Setter puppies find their forever homes. In addition to Irish Setters, we work with a range of other breeds — including English Springer Spaniels, Irishdoodles, Springerdoodles, and more! The Irish Setter is a popular dog breed with a long and storied history. Originally bred in Ireland, the Irish Setter was used for hunting game birds. The breed’s distinctive red fur made it easy to spot in the field, and its good-natured personality made it a favorite among hunters. Over time, the Irish Setter became known as an all-around good family dog, and today it is one of the most popular breeds in the world. Though its exact origins are unknown, the Irish Setter is thought to be descended from a mix of Spanish and English setters. The breed first gained popularity in America in the late 1800s, and today there are more than 200,000 Irish Setters registered with the American Kennel Club.
Irish Setters are highly intelligent, friendly dogs that make excellent companions. They are also very active and need plenty of exercises, making them a good choice for families with an active lifestyle. The one downside to owning an Irish Setter is that they require a lot of grooming, but the rewards of having such a beautiful and loving dog in your life make it well worth the effort.

Irish Setter Puppies Temperament
If you want to buy an Irish Setter puppy, it’s smart to do a little research first. The Irish Setter is a friendly, loyal breed that makes an excellent companion for active families. They are known for their affectionate nature and their love of play. Although they can be boisterous at times, they are generally gentle and good-natured. Irish Setters are also intelligent and relatively quick learners. They excel at obedience and agility trials, and they make excellent hunting dogs. With their cheerful dispositions and endearing personalities, it’s no wonder that the Irish Setter is such a popular breed.
This good-natured, social breed doesn’t like solitary time and needs companionship. They are very good with children, but their rambunctious nature may be a problem for families with very small children.
Irish Setter Puppies Health Considerations
Though generally very healthy and long-lived — with an average lifespan of around 12 – 14 years — our Irish Setters for sale are not without their unique health concerns. Like every breed of dog, there are a few conditions you should be aware of before you consider purchasing one of our Irish Setter puppies for sale. Understanding the risks allows you to know the signs and prevent small health concerns from turning into big ones.
Irish Setter puppies are at somewhat elevated risk for developing the following conditions:
- Hip Dysplasia
- Epilepsy
- Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD)
Another common health concern for Irish Setters is Von Willebrand’s Disease. Von Willebrand’s disease is a bleeding disorder that can be dangerous if not treated properly.
Finding an Irish Setter puppy for sale from a reputable breeder can dramatically — although, not eliminate — the risk of your dog developing some of these conditions. At Keystone Puppies, we work exclusively with experienced breeders who are committed to producing healthy & happy pups.
