The French Bulldog is a popular dog breed with a long and interesting history. Originally from England, the breed was created by crossing Bullenbeissers with Toy Bulldogs. The Bullenbeiser was a large, aggressive hunting dog, while the Toy Bulldog was a smaller, more gentle companion dog. The resulting breed was called the Toy Bulldog, and it quickly became popular among the upper classes in England. When the English began to settle in France, they brought their Toy Bulldogs with them. Over time, the Toy Bulldogs were crossbred with local dogs, resulting in the French Bulldog we know today.

Although they are now typically considered a toy breed, French Bulldogs still retain some of their original hunting instincts. They are known for being intelligent and loyal companions, and they make great family pets. Thanks to their friendly nature and striking appearance, French Bulldogs have become one of the most popular dog breeds in the world.

Frenchie Puppies Temperament

The French Bulldog is a small but sturdy breed with a unique appearance. They are known for their large, round eyes and bat-like ears, which give them an expressive and comical look. But don’t let their cute appearance fool you – Frenchies are fierce little dogs with big personalities. They are intelligent and willful, and often have a mind of their own. They can be stubborn and headstrong, but they are also affectionate and devoted to their families.

Frenchies are lively and playful, but they can also be calm and gentle. They make great companion dogs, but they need plenty of exercise and attention. If you’re looking for a furry friend who will keep you entertained, the French Bulldog is the perfect breed for you.

French Bulldog Puppy Health Considerations

Though generally very happy and long-lived — with an average lifespan of around 10-12 years — our French Bulldogs for sale are not without their unique health concerns. Like every breed of dog, there are a few conditions you should be aware of before you consider purchasing one of our Frenchie puppies for sale. Understanding the risks allows you to know the signs and prevent small health concerns from turning into big ones.

French Bulldog puppies are at a somewhat elevated risk for developing the following conditions:

  •    Respiratory Issues
  •    Skin Infections
  •    Allergies
  •    Joint Issues
  •    Propensity to Obesity
  •    Elongated Soft Palate

One common issue is respiratory problems, due to their short muzzle and narrow airways. French Bulldogs are also prone to skin infections and allergies, and their short coat requires regular grooming to prevent matting. Additionally, French Bulldogs often suffer from joint issues due to their stocky build.

With some basic knowledge of the breed’s health concerns, you can be sure to give your French Bulldog the best possible chance at a long and healthy life. Finding a Frenchie puppy for sale from a reputable breeder can also dramatically — although, not eliminate — the risk of your dog developing some of these conditions. At Keystone Puppies, we work exclusively with experienced breeders who are committed to producing healthy & happy pups. Frenchie Puppy Coat & Coat Care

French Bulldogs have a short, smooth coat that requires minimal grooming. However, it is important to brush them regularly to remove any dead hair and prevent matting. French Bulldogs also benefit from occasional baths, which can help to keep their skin healthy and their coat free of dirt and debris. When bathing a French Bulldog, be sure to use a mild shampoo and avoid getting water in their ears. After the bath, be sure to thoroughly dry their coat and brush it out again to prevent matting. With proper care, French Bulldogs can enjoy a healthy, lustrous coat.
