Collie Breed Temperament

The Collie is intelligent, loving, affectionate and social. This breed is great with kids because they are so mile mannered. They make great watchdogs and protectors!

Collie Health Considerations

The Collie life expectancy is between 9 – 14 years. This breed is a relatively healthy breed. Some health concerns to look for are:

  • PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy)
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Skin Infections
  • CEA

Collie Coat

This breed either has a rough coat or smooth coat.

Although the Collie coat is on the long side, it needs little maintenance. Brushing their coats every week or two and bathing when necessary is sufficient. Trimming their hair to keep it off of the ground is best for this breed. If this breed is in a warmer climate, their need for more brushing increases to prevent matting.
