The American Bully is a relatively new breed of dog that was developed in the United States in the 1990s. It was created by crossing several breeds including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and English Bulldog. The goal was to produce a dog that had the loyalty and athleticism of the American Pit Bull Terrier, the strength and size of the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the calm and friendly temperament of the English Bulldog.
These dogs are known for being very friendly and affectionate towards their owners and are good with children. They are also intelligent, trainable, and eager to please. American Bullies are loyal and protective, making them good guard dogs. They are also highly athletic and need plenty of exercise and playtime to stay healthy and happy.
Overall, the American Bully is a friendly, loyal, and athletic breed that makes a great companion for the right owner. With proper training, socialization, and care, they can be excellent family pets.

American Bully Puppies Temperament
The American Bully is known for its friendly and outgoing personality. These dogs are highly social and thrive on human interaction. They are loyal, loving, and affectionate towards their owners and are often referred to as “people dogs” because of their desire to be around people as much as possible.
American Bullies are also known for their intelligence and trainability. They are eager to please and respond well to positive reinforcement training methods. They enjoy learning new things and are capable of mastering a wide range of commands and tricks.
Despite their size and strength, American Bullies are not typically aggressive towards humans. They are good with children and can make excellent family pets. However, it is important to supervise them around young children, as they may accidentally knock them over during play.
When it comes to other dogs, American Bullies can be a bit more challenging. Due to their history of being used in dogfighting, they may be more prone to aggression towards other dogs if not properly socialized from a young age. However, with proper socialization and training, they can learn to get along well with other dogs.
American Bully Puppy Health Considerations
Though generally very happy and long-lived — with an average lifespan of around 8-12 years — our American Bully’s for sale are not without their unique health concerns. Like every breed of dog, there are a few conditions you should be aware of before you consider purchasing one of our American Bully puppies for sale. Understanding the risks allows you to know the signs and prevent small health concerns from turning into big ones.
American Bully puppies are at a somewhat elevated risk for developing the following conditions:
- Hip Dysplasia
- Allergies
- Obesity
- Brachycephalic Syndrome
- Demodex Mange
With some basic knowledge of the breed’s health concerns, you can be sure to give your American Bully the best possible chance at a long and healthy life. Finding an American Bully puppy for sale from a reputable breeder can also dramatically — although, not eliminate — the risk of your dog developing some of these conditions. At Keystone Puppies, we work exclusively with experienced breeders who are committed to producing healthy & happy pups. American Bully Puppy Coat & Coat Care
The American Bully has a short, smooth coat that is relatively easy to maintain. Their coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns, including solid colors such as black, blue, and brown, as well as brindle and pied.
While American Bullies don’t require a lot of grooming, regular brushing can help keep their coat healthy and shiny. Brushing once a week with a soft-bristled brush or grooming glove can help remove loose hair, dirt, and debris, and distribute natural oils throughout the coat. This can also help prevent matting and tangles.
Bathing should be done as needed, usually every few months or when the dog becomes particularly dirty or smelly. It’s important to use a mild, dog-specific shampoo and avoid getting water in the dog’s ears.
These pups are prone to developing skin allergies, so it’s important to keep their coat and skin clean and healthy. Regular grooming can help detect any skin issues early, such as hot spots or other irritations. In addition to regular brushing and bathing, it’s important to keep up with other aspects of coat care for the American Bully. This includes regular nail trimming, teeth brushing, and ear cleaning. Keeping up with these grooming tasks can help keep the dog healthy and comfortable, and prevent any potential health issues from arising.
